Cabbage Thoran
Ingredients
- 500 gm Cabbage / முட்டை கோஸ் - shredded
- ¼ cup Coconut / தேங்காய் - grated
- 2 – 3 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய்
- 10 gm Ginger / இஞ்சி
- 10 nos Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
- 1 tbsp Coconut Oil / தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 1 tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- 1 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
- 1 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய்
- ½ tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
Instructions
- Grind coconut, ginger, green chilies [do not add water]
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and season with mustard seeds, chana dhal and urad dhal
- Add turmeric powder, curry leaves and red chili
- Add cut cabbage little by little and mix well
- Add salt over it and mix well
- Close the pan and allow it to cook for about 5~10min
- Simmer the flame and now the ground coconut, green chilies and ginger
- Mix them well

Variations
- Could add fresh green peas if available along with cabbage
