Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice, raw / பச்சரிசி
  • ½ cup Moong Dhal / பயத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 1 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - long cut
  • 1 nos Tomato / தக்காளி - chopped
  • 2 – 4 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய்
  • 1 inch Ginger / இஞ்சி
  • 10 pod Garlic / பூண்டு
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 10 – 12 nos Cashew nut / முந்திரிப் பருப்பு
  • ½ tsp Shahi Jeera
  • 2 nos Cinnamon stick / லவங்கப் பட்டை
  • 2 nos Cardamom, Green / ஏலக்காய்
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick / லவங்கப் பட்டை
  • 1 nos Bay leaf, Dry
  • 2 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste

Instructions
 

  • Wash and soak rice and moong dhal together
  • Make a powder of the dry spices, except bay leaf
  • Make a coarse paste of onion, chilies, ginger and garlic, keep aside
  • Heat ghee in a pan and add the onion paste and bay leaf and fry till golden brown
  • Add the spices powder, curry leaves and mix
  • Add 3 cups of water and bring to a boil
  • Add soaked rice and moong dhal and cook for 10~15min
  • Add salt mix well and cook till done
  • Garnish with cashew nuts fried in butter
