Bhindi Spicy Fry
Ingredients
- 500 gm Okra / வெண்டைக் காய் - Okra, cut into ¾~1inch long slits
- 2 nos Bell Pepper, Red - finely chopped
- 8 – 10 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - split lengthwise
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 1 tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- 1 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
- 4 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
- 2 tbsp Sambar Masala powder
- 1 tsp Mango powder, Dry
- 1 tsp Tamarind paste, புளி விழுது - instead of Dry Mango powder
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan
- When oil is hot enough add mustard seeds and allow to splutter
- Add chana dhal, urad dhal and fry a little
- Add turmeric power, asafoetida, green chili and fry well
- Add bhindi, salt, dry mango powder (or tamarind paste), mix and fry well
- Close the pan with a lid and simmer the flame and allow to cook for 10min
- Now add sambar masala powder, mix well and allow to fry
- Garnish with curry leaves
- Serve hot with any rice items
