Ingredients
  

  • 400 gm Potato / உருளைக் கிழங்கு - boiled and mashed
  • 4 – 5 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - ground with garlic
  • 4 – 5 nos Garlic / பூண்டு - ground with green chili
  • 1 tsp Fennel seed / சோம்பு - coarse ground
  • cup Besan flour / கடலை மாவு
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 1 tsp Red Chili powder / மிளகாய்த் தூள்
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
  • 2 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி - chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
  • 1 pinch Baking soda
  • 1 nos Lemon / எலுமிச்சம் பழம் - juice
  • 400 ml Oil / எண்ணெய் - to fry

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Temper mustard seeds and allow it to splutter
  • Add curry leaves and fry
  • Add the chili-garlic paste and sauté well
  • Add ground fennel seeds
  • Add mashed potato, ½tsp turmeric powder, ½red chili powder, asafoetida, ½tsp salt
  • Switch off the flame and mix well, keep aside
  • Take besan in a bowl
  • Add ½tsp salt, ½tsp turmeric powder, ½tsp red chili powder, baking soda
  • Add water and make a smooth thick batter without any lumps
  • Divide potato mixture into equal pieces and make into a ball
  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Coat the balls with besan batter and deep fry them in oil until golden brown
  • Serve hot with green chutney
