Laddu or Laddoo is a ball-shaped sweet popular in Indian Subcontinent as well as regions with immigrants from the Subcontinent such as Hijaz. In India, especially in north India Thaggu ke Laddu(Kanpur) and motichoor ka laddu of Neetram(Allahabad) is famous and exported to different area across globe. Laddu is made of flour, minced dough and sugar with other ingredients that vary by recipe. It is often served at festive or religious occasions. -Source: Wikipedia

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Chana Dhal, roasted / பொட்டுக் கடலை
  • 1 cup Sugar, White / சர்க்கரை, வெள்ளை - powdered
  • 3 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
  • 1 tsp Cardamom, Green / ஏலக்காய் - powder
  • 2 tsp Milk / பால்
  • 2 tbsp Melon seeds

Instructions
 

  • Powder dhal in mixie and pass it through a fine sieve
  • Mix it with powdered sugar and cardamom powder
  • Fry cashew nuts, melon seeds in ghee and add to the flour
  • Add milk to the flour
  • Melt rest of the ghee in low flame and add it gradually to flour, just enough to form it into balls
  • Make small sized balls(Laddus) when the flour is still warm.

Notes

Note
* If you are using Besan, fry it in melted Ghee till aroma comes from that, add milk
* Then mix it with powdered sugar and form small sized balls(Laddus)
