Gajar ka Halwa
A famous dessert which is favorite all over Northern India and Pakistan.It is traditionally eaten during all of the festivals in India, mainly on the occasion of Diwali, Holi, Eid al-Fitr and Raksha Bandhan. The Gajar Ka Halwa is served hot during the winter. -Source: Wikipedia
Ingredients
- 1 kg Carrot / காரெட் - grated
- 5 cup Milk / பால்
- 100 gm Sweetened Condensed Milk - optional
- 2 tbsp Sugar, White / சர்க்கரை, வெள்ளை
- 2 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
- 25 gm Cashew nut / முந்திரிப் பருப்பு
- 25 gm Raisin
- 5 strnds Saffron / குங்குமப் பூ - optional
- ⅓ tsp Cardamom, Green / ஏலக்காய் - powdered
Instructions
- Add to the milk in a pan along with grated carrot and bring to a boil
- Cook on slow fire stirring occasionally, till milk dries up 75~80%
- Add condensed milk and sugar
- Cook on slow fire till dry (for about 25 to 30 minutes) stirring occasionally
- Add ghee and cook for another 10 minutes
- Add cardamom powder and stir well
- Garnish with roasted cashew nuts, raisins, saffron
- Serve hot
