Ingredients
  

  • 3 nos Tomato / தக்காளி - chopped
  • 10 - 15 pod Garlic / பூண்டு
  • 1 lemon size Tamarind extract / புளிக் கரைசல்
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 2 tsp Rasam Masala powder
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper / மிளகு
  • 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்

for Tempering

  • 2 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
  • 2 tbsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்

for Grinding

  • 2 tbsp Thoor dhal / துவரம் பருப்பு
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 1 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய்
  • 3 - 5 pod Garlic / பூண்டு
  • 2 tsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
  • 1 nos Long Pepper / திப்பிலி - optonal

Instructions
 

  • Boil tomato, garlic in extracted tamarind water in medium flame, along with turmeric powder, rasam masala powder, salt
  • Grind thoor dhal, cumin seeds, long pepper, curry leaves, dry red chilli into a fine paste
  • When garlic is cooked tender add the paste, asafoetida - mix and boil well
  • Temper cumin seeds in hot ghee and add to above rasam
  • Garnish with coriander leaves
  • Serve hot with hot rice
