Kaima Idli
Ingredients
- 12 nos Idli / இட்லி - chilled n cut into small pieces
- 3 nos Tomato / தக்காளி - finely diced
- 3 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - long cut
- 3 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - chopped
- 1 inch Ginger / இஞ்சி - paste
- 10 pod Garlic / பூண்டு - paste
- 2 tbsp Green Peas, Fresh / பச்சைப் பட்டாணி
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 1 tsp Coriander powder / மல்லித் தூள்
- 1 tsp Garam Masala powder
- 1 tbsp Fennel seed / சோம்பு
- 1 tsp Red Chili powder / மிளகாய்த் தூள் - adjust to your spice level
- 12 nos Cashew nut / முந்திரிப் பருப்பு
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
- 250 ml Oil / எண்ணெய் - to fry
- 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி - chopped
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
- 1 nos Lemon / எலுமிச்சம் பழம்
Instructions
- Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the cut idli until crispy and keep aside
- Heat a pan, add little oil, fry cashew nuts and keep aside
- Temper with fennel seeds
- Add curry leaves, green chili, ginger, garlic paste and sauté well
- Add onion and fry until transparent
- Add tomato, allow it to cook well into a paste kind consistency
- Add green peas, salt and cook for 2~3min
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, mix well and allow it to cook for 1~2min
- Add fried idli and mix well with the above masala
- Garnish with fried cashew nuts and coriander leaves
- Squeeze lemon over
- Server hot with tomato-curd chutney
