Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice, raw / பச்சரிசி
  • 2 tbsp Black-eyed Peas
  • ½ cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - cut into thin slices
  • 1 cup Jaggery / வெல்லம் - grated
  • 3 nos Cardamom, Green / ஏலக்காய் - powdered
  • 1 tsp Ginger powder, Dry / சுக்குப் பொடி - powdered (optional)
  • ½ tsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • cup Water / தண்ணீர்

Instructions
 

  • Soak rice for about 1hr and dry it over a cloth
  • Soak black-eyed peas for 10min and drain water
  • Grind rice into a smooth flour, sieve it if required
  • Roast rice flour a little
  • Heat water in a pan
  • Add black-eyed peas and bring to a boil
  • Add jaggery and allow it to dissolve stir occasionally
  • Add coconut
  • Once all jaggery dissolves, add rice flour little by little and mix well, without forming lumps
  • Add cardamom, dry ginger powder and mix well
  • Stir it until it solidifies
  • Switch off the flame and allow it to cool a little
  • Grease your hands and make patties out of the mixture thus prepared
  • Make a hole in the center
  • Steam it just like idlis for 10min
  • Serve hot with butter
