Soak rice for about 1hr and dry it over a cloth
Soak black-eyed peas for 10min and drain water
Grind rice into a smooth flour, sieve it if required
Roast rice flour a little
Heat water in a pan
Add black-eyed peas and bring to a boil
Add jaggery and allow it to dissolve stir occasionally
Add coconut
Once all jaggery dissolves, add rice flour little by little and mix well, without forming lumps
Add cardamom, dry ginger powder and mix well
Stir it until it solidifies
Switch off the flame and allow it to cool a little
Grease your hands and make patties out of the mixture thus prepared
Make a hole in the center
Steam it just like idlis for 10min
Serve hot with butter
