Vella Puttu
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice / அரிசி
- ¾ cup Jaggery / வெல்லம்
- 2 tbsp Thoor dhal / துவரம் பருப்பு
- ½ cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய்
- 1 nos Cardamom, Green / ஏலக்காய் - powdered
- 10 nos Cashew nut / முந்திரிப் பருப்பு
- 10 nos Raisin
- 4 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
- 1 tsp Ginger powder, Dry / சுக்குப் பொடி - powdered
- 1 pinch Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 1 pinch Salt / உப்பு
Instructions
- Wash rice, drain and roast the rice while its wet until golden brown
- Grind into a coarse powder, sieve it to get even consistency
- Mix with turmeric powder, salt and add little water and make it into such a consistency that it should not have lumps, should form a shape when hold the same
- Steam the above mix for about 10~15min
- Once cooled blend it in a mixer, so that there will not be any lumps
- Boil thoor dhal such that it is well cooked but not over cooked
- Dissolve jaggery in little water in a pan
- Heat it over low flame, stir continuously until it gets one ball consistency
- While the syrup is warm enough add coconut, rice flour mix, thoor dhal and mix well
- Roast cashew, raisins in ghee
- Add ghee, cardamom powder, cashew, raisins, dry ginger powder
