Ingredients
  

  • 2 bunch Spinach leaves / பசலைக்கீரை
  • 2 tbsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 2 tbsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
  • 5 – 7 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 2 tsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • ½ tsp Salt / உப்பு

Instructions
 

  • Wash and pressure cook spinach for about 10min
  • Mash the spinach well, keep aside
  • Dry roast urad dhal, cumin seed and red chili until golden brown, allow it to cool
  • Grind into fine powder
  • Add the powder, salt and mix with mashed spinach
  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Add mustard allow it to splutter
  • Add urad dhal, red chili and fry until golden brown
  • Add turmeric powder, asafoetida and mix well
  • Mix the above well with mashed spinach
  • Serve hot along with rice
