Seegumble Kaayi (Pumpkin) Gotsu
Ingredients
- 2 cup Pumpkin / பரங்கிக் காய் - peeled n chopped
- 2 tsp Sesame seed, Black / எள்ளு, கருப்பு
- 1 tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- 1 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
- 1 tsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
- ¼ cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
- 3 - 4 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
- ½ inch ball Tamarind extract / புளிக் கரைசல்
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- ½ cup Jaggery / வெல்லம் - shredded
Instructions
- Dry roast sesame, channa dhal, urad dhal, dry red chili separately and allow it to cool
- Grind above along with coconut into a smooth paste, add as little water as possible
- Heat a pan with little water
- Close cook pumpkin for about 5min
- Add the ground paste, asafoetida, salt and bring to a boil
- Add jaggery and add water if required to adjust consistency
- Bring to a boil, stir well so that jaggery dissolves evenly
Notes
Serve hot along with rice or roti
