Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice / அரிசி
  • 1 cup Moong Dhal / பயத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 1 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - chopped
  • 1 nos Tomato / தக்காளி - chopped
  • 2 pod Garlic / பூண்டு - minced
  • ½ inch Ginger / இஞ்சி - minced
  • 3 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - chopped
  • 1 tsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
  • 5 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி - chopped

Instructions
 

  • Heat 2tbsp of ghee in a pan
  • Add cumin, allow it to splutter
  • Add gsarlic, sauté until fragrant
  • Add onion  sauté until translucent
  • Add green chili, ginger, tomato, asafoetida, turmeric powder, half of curry leaves cook until tomatoes are mushy
  • Transfer it into a pressure cooker
  • Cook for 7~10 whistles along with rice and moon dhal with enough water
  • Garnish with remaining curry leaves and coriander leaves
  • Serve hot along with ghee on top
