Vazhaithandu Moor Koottu
Ingredients
- 250 gm Plantain Tree Stem / வாழைத்தண்டு - finely chopped
- 2 cup Yogurt / தயிர்
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
for Grinding
- 5 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
- 5 gm Ginger / இஞ்சி - randomly cut
- 1 tsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
- ½ cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
- 1 tsp Rice flour / அசிரி மாவு
for Tempering
- 1 tbsp Coconut Oil / தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 1 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய்
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
Instructions
Grind Masala
- Grind coconut, ginger, cumin, green chili, turmeric powder along with curd into a fine paste
Main
- Close cook plantain tree stem with little water, salt until they are soft
- Add the ground paste to cooked plantain tree stem, mix well
- Bring to a boil
Tempering
- Heat coconut oil in a pan
- Add mustard, allow it to splutter
- Add dry red chili, fry a little
- Add curry leaves, asafoetida, fry a bit
- Add into koottu, mix well
Notes
Serve hot with rice
