Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm Tomato / தக்காளி - cut long strips
  • 50 gm Peanut / வேர்க் கடலை
  • 50 g, Sesame seed, Black / எள்ளு, கருப்பு
  • 50 gm Coconut, Dry / தேங்காய் உலர்ந்தது
  • 50 gm Onion / வெங்காயம் - chopped
  • 50 gm Tamarind / புளி - extract
  • 2 tsp Red Chili powder / மிளகாய்த் தூள்
  • ½ 1sp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seed / வெந்தயம்
  • 1 tsp Onion seed
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 75 ml Sesame Oil / நல்லெண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste

Instructions
 

  • Roast the peanuts, sesame seeds, coconut in a dry pan, blend to a smooth paste
  • Heat oil in the same pan, fry mustard, fenugreek seeds, onion seeds for a minute
  • Add curry leaves, chopped onions, fry for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add ground paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, fry until the oil in the pan separates
  • Add tamarind water, salt
  • Add tomato to the tamarind water
  • Cook until the tomatoes get tender and gravy should thicken
  • Remove from heat
  • Serve hot with fried rice with cilantro on it
