Aloo Methi
Ingredients
- 500 gm Potato / உருளைக் கிழங்கு
- 50 gm Fenugreek leaves, Dry / வெந்தய இலை, உலர்ந்தது - Dry – 50gm
- 10 pod Garlic / பூண்டு
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 2 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 2 tsp Red Chili powder / மிளகாய்த் தூள் - adjust to your spice level
- 2 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
Instructions
- Wash, peel skin and cut potato into 1inch pieces
- Heat oil in a pan
- Temper mustard in it
- Fry garlic until turns brown
- Add potatoes and mix well and allow it to cook for 2min
- Add salt, turmeric and red chili powder and mix well
- Simmer the flame, close the pan with a lid and cook for 10min, while mixing then intermittently
- Once the potatoes are cooked add kasoor methi and mix well and cook for 2 min
- Serve hot with roti or pulka
Notes
Variation
- You could use fresh methi leaves, add it potatoes are half cooked so that methi leaves could cook well
