Ingredients
  

  • 100 gm Asparagus - cleaned & chopped
  • 2 tbsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
  • 2 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 1 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - (optional)
  • 2 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - (adjust to your spice level)
  • 10 gm Tamarind / புளி
  • 1 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - (adjust to your taste)

for Tempering

  • 1 tsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan, add asparagus, sauté until tender
  • Add green chili, red chili, channa dhal, urad dhal
  • Fry about until dhal turns golden brown, allow it to cool
  • Grind above into fine paste, do not add water as much as possible

Tempering

  • Heat oil in the pan, add mustard, allow it to splutter
  • Add asafoetida
  • Mix well with the ground paste

Notes

Serve along with rotis and or hot rice
Variation
  • You may consider adding grated coconut when frying asparagus mix
