Bread Upma
Ingredients
- 1 loaf Bread
- Onion / வெங்காயம் - long cut – 3nos
- Potato / உருளைக் கிழங்கு - finely chopped – 1nos
- Carrot / காரெட் - finely chopped – 1nos
- Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - finely chopped – 2~3nos
- ¼ tsp Green Peas, Fresh / பச்சைப் பட்டாணி
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 1 tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- 1 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
- 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி
- 2 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
Instructions
- Grind bread slices into crumbs
- Heat oil in a pan
- Temper mustard in it
- Add chana dhal, urad dhal and fry until golden brown
- Add green chili, curry leaves and fry well
- Add onion and sauté well until it turns transparent
- Add asafoetida, salt and mix well
- Add potato, carrot, green peas and cook them well, if required add little water
- Fry the above until all the water is drained
- Simmer the flame
- Add bread crumbs and mix well gently, care if the water is not drained well the bread might form into lumps
- Garnish with coriander leaves
- Serve hot with ketchup
