French Beans Koottu
Ingredients
- 500 gm French Beans, Fresh - chopped
- 1 cup Moong Dhal / பயத்தம் பருப்பு - cooked
- 1 cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 2 tsp Sambar Masala powder
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 2 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
for Grinding
- 1 tsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
- 5 – 7 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
- 2 tbsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
Instructions
- Heat little oil in a pan
- Fry red chili, urad dhal until golden brown for grinding
- Grind the above along with coconut into a fine paste with as little water as possible, keep aside
- Boil water in a pan
- Add french beans and allow it to cook until tender
- Add turmeric powder, sambar masala powder and mix well
- Add cooked moong dhal, ground paste and mix well
- Add water if required to make it little liquid consistency and allow it to boil
- Heat rest of oil in a pan
- Temper mustard it it
- Add urad dhal, red chili, fresh curry leaves and fry well
- Serve hot with rice items and/or rotis
