French Onion Soup
Ingredients
- 2 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - thinly sliced
- 3 pod Garlic / பூண்டு - finely chopped
- 1 pod Garlic / பூண்டு - peeled
- 1 tbsp Sugar, White / சர்க்கரை, வெள்ளை
- 2 sprig Thyme leaves, Fresh
- 2 tbsp All Purpose flour
- 200 gm Gruyère Cheese - grated
- 4 slices French Bread
- 4 cup Vegetable Broth
- 3 tbsp Olive oil / ஆலிவ் எண்ணெய்
- 80 ml Cooking wine
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pan
- Add onion and fry them until brown
- Simmer the flame and add garlic, thyme, sugr
- Stir well occasionally and cook for about 15min or onions are completely brown
- Add all purpose flour, stir well and cook for 2~3min
- Add cooking wine and stir continuously
- Add vegetable broth and bring to a boil in low flame and cook for about 20min
- Pre-heat oven to 200°C
- Toast the French bread on both sides
- Cut the garlic and rub it over the bread
- Top grated cheese over the bread
- Pour soup in oven safe cups and add little cheese in it (do not mix)
- Place a slice of bread on top of each cup
- Bake it in the oven for 5min or until the cheese are brown
- Sprinkle some more thyme
- Serve hot
