Keerai Masiyal
Ingredients
- 2 bunch Spinach leaves / பசலைக்கீரை
- 2 tbsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
- 2 tbsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
- 5 – 7 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 2 tsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- ½ tsp Salt / உப்பு
Instructions
- Wash and pressure cook spinach for about 10min
- Mash the spinach well, keep aside
- Dry roast urad dhal, cumin seed and red chili until golden brown, allow it to cool
- Grind into fine powder
- Add the powder, salt and mix with mashed spinach
- Heat oil in a pan
- Add mustard allow it to splutter
- Add urad dhal, red chili and fry until golden brown
- Add turmeric powder, asafoetida and mix well
- Mix the above well with mashed spinach
- Serve hot along with rice
