Moong Dhal Kichidi
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice / அரிசி
- 1 cup Moong Dhal / பயத்தம் பருப்பு
- 1 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - chopped
- 1 nos Tomato / தக்காளி - chopped
- 2 pod Garlic / பூண்டு - minced
- ½ inch Ginger / இஞ்சி - minced
- 3 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - chopped
- 1 tsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 5 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
- 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி - chopped
Instructions
- Heat 2tbsp of ghee in a pan
- Add cumin, allow it to splutter
- Add gsarlic, sauté until fragrant
- Add onion sauté until translucent
- Add green chili, ginger, tomato, asafoetida, turmeric powder, half of curry leaves cook until tomatoes are mushy
- Transfer it into a pressure cooker
- Cook for 7~10 whistles along with rice and moon dhal with enough water
- Garnish with remaining curry leaves and coriander leaves
- Serve hot along with ghee on top
