Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice, raw / பச்சரிசி - cooked
  • 10 nos Okra / வெண்டைக் காய் - cut into half
  • 1 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - sliced
  • 2 pod Garlic / பூண்டு - crushed
  • ½ inch Cinnamon stick / லவங்கப் பட்டை
  • 1 nos Cardamom, Green / ஏலக்காய்
  • 1 cup Tamarind extract / புளிக் கரைசல்
  • 5 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 3 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste

Instructions
 

  • Grind red chili, garlic, half of onion into coarse paste
  • Heat little oil in pan fry onion until golden brown, keep aside
  • Fry okra in the same pan until golden brown, keep aside
  • Add and heat rest of oil
  • Add mustard, allow it to splutter
  • Add ground paste, turmeric powder and sauté for 2min
  • Add tamarind extract, salt and bring to a boil
  • Add fried okra, fried onion, rice and mix well
