Paruppu Podi
Ingredients
- 1 cup Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- 1 cup Chana Dhal, roasted / பொட்டுக் கடலை
- 5 - 7 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
- 1 tsp Black Pepper / மிளகு
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 3 tbsp Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - desiccated, optional
- 4 - 5 nos Garlic / பூண்டு - optional
- 1 tsp Ghee / நெய்
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
Instructions
- Roast red chili in ghee
- Add channa dhal, roasted channa dhal, and roast along until they change color
- Add garlic, pepper, and roast
- Switch off the flame
- Add coconut mix and allow to cool
- Grind into a soft powder
- Sieve if required to get the uniform texture and grind the granules again
- Mix asafoetida, salt well
- Store in an airtight container
Notes
Serve along with hot rice with ghee
