Ingredients
  

  • 2 nos Ridge Gourd / பீர்கங்காய் - large cut
  • 4 ~ 6 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
  • ½ cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
  • 2 tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
  • 2 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
  • ½ lemon size Tamarind / புளி
  • 2 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Sauté red chili, channa dhal, urad dhal until golden brown
  • Add ridge gourd and sauté well in low flame, allow it to cool
  • Grind them into a fine paste along with tamarind and asafoetida
  • Add salt mix well
  • Serve with rice or roti or dosa

Notes

* When eating with rice, add little sesame oil to enhance the taste
