Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
  • 3 cup Water / தண்ணீர்
  • 2 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - slit
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 1 tsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 1 tsp Red Chili powder / மிளகாய்த் தூள்
  • 1 tsp Mango powder, Dry
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala powder
  • 1 tsp Sugar, White / சர்க்கரை, வெள்ளை - adjust to your taste
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
  • 1 tbsp Ghee / நெய்

Instructions
 

  • Soak chana dhal in enough water for 2hrs
  • Drain water and pressure cook for 2~3 whistles with 3cups of water [Grains should be cooked but not get mashed]
  • Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, red chili powder, amchur powder, garam masala powder, sugar and salt into cooked dhal
  • Stir well and add little water if required
  • Cook in low flame for 10min till a gravy consistency is reached
  • Heat ghee in a pan
  • Add cumin seeds and allow it to splutter
  • Add green chili and sauté for a min
  • Add curry leaves, asafoetida and sauté
  • Add the sautéd mixture into dhal
  • Stir well
  • Serve hot along with Sindhi Pakwan
