Sindhi Dhal
Ingredients
- 2 cup Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- 3 cup Water / தண்ணீர்
- 2 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - slit
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
- 1 tsp Cumin seed / சீரகம்
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 1 tsp Red Chili powder / மிளகாய்த் தூள்
- 1 tsp Mango powder, Dry
- 1 tsp Garam Masala powder
- 1 tsp Sugar, White / சர்க்கரை, வெள்ளை - adjust to your taste
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
- 1 tbsp Ghee / நெய்
Instructions
- Soak chana dhal in enough water for 2hrs
- Drain water and pressure cook for 2~3 whistles with 3cups of water [Grains should be cooked but not get mashed]
- Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, red chili powder, amchur powder, garam masala powder, sugar and salt into cooked dhal
- Stir well and add little water if required
- Cook in low flame for 10min till a gravy consistency is reached
- Heat ghee in a pan
- Add cumin seeds and allow it to splutter
- Add green chili and sauté for a min
- Add curry leaves, asafoetida and sauté
- Add the sautéd mixture into dhal
- Stir well
- Serve hot along with Sindhi Pakwan
