Ingredients
  

  • 1 bunch Spinach leaves / பசலைக்கீரை - washed n chopped
  • ½ cup Thoor dhal / துவரம் பருப்பு - cooked
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seed / வெந்தயம் - cooked along with thoor dhal
  • 3 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - chopped
  • 2 nos Tomato / தக்காளி - chopped
  • 5 nos Garlic / பூண்டு - chopped
  • 1 inch piece Ginger / இஞ்சி - chopped
  • 2 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - chopped
  • 1 cup Tamarind extract / புளிக் கரைசல் - using 1 lemon size of tamarind
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 2 tbsp Sambar Masala powder
  • 2 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய்
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
  • 3 tbsp Sesame Oil / நல்லெண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 2 tbsp Jaggery / வெல்லம் - grated, optional
  • 5 nos Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை

Instructions
 

  • Heat 2tsp of oil in a pan
  • Add ginger, garlic, green chili and fry them well
  • Add onion fry till transparent
  • Add tomato and sauté them till it turns mushy
  • Add spinach and cook them till becomes ¼ of its size
  • Allow it to cool
  • Grind in a mixer into a coarse paste along with cooked thoor dhal
  • Heat rest of oil in the pan again
  • Temper mustard in it
  • Add red chili, curry leaves and fry it
  • Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, sambar powder and mix well
  • Add tamarind extract, ground paste, salt and 2cup of water and bring them to boil
  • Add jaggery
  • Serve hot with ragi muddhe or rice
