Heat little oil in a pan
Fry red Chilli, channa dhal, urad dhal, asafoetida, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, and sesame, keep it aside
Add coconut to above and grind it well
Add rest of oil and season the mustard seeds
Add the small pieces of karela into it and cook it well
Add tamarind extract, salt and cook it for 5min
Once this boils well, add ground masala paste in it
Add little jaggery cook it well
Serve hot with rice
