Heat oil in a pan
Add jeera and kalonji and allow it to splutter
Add garlic, onion and sauté well until raw smell goes off
Add tomato and cook for 1~2min
Add jeera powder, dhaniya powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder and mix well, allow it to cook for 2min
Simmer the flame to medium
Add karela, salt, water and mix well, allow to cook until karela turns softer
Stir occasionally in between
Add garam masala power, jaggery, asafoetida and cook for about 5min until the jaggery melts
Serve hot with rice or roti
