Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 1 cup Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய்
  • 1 cup Sesame seed, Black / எள்ளு, கருப்பு
  • ¼ cup Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு
  • 1 pinch Asafetida / பெருங்காயம்

Instructions
 

  • Dry roast channa dhal, urad dhal, sesame, dry red chili separately
  • Allow it cool
  • Grind dry red chili into fine powder first
  • Then grind channa dhal, urad dhal along with red chili powder
  • Then finally grind sesame
  • Transfer into a bowl
  • Add asafoetida, salt and mix well
  • Store in an airtight container
  • Serve along with idli or dosai

Notes

Variation * If you don't like dark color due to black sesame, you may use white sesame
