Ingredients
  

  • 250 gm Onion, Small / வெங்காயம், சிறியது - peeled
  • 1 lemon size Tamarind / புளி
  • 10 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய்
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
  • 100 ml Sesame Oil / நல்லெண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 2 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை

Instructions
 

  • Heat 2~3tsp of oil in a pan
  • Saute the onions until they are soft and turn translucent
  • Add tamarind and red chili and sauté them and allow it to cool
  • Grind them in a mixer into a coarse paste
  • Heat rest of oil and temper with mustard
  • When mustard starts to splutter add urad dhal and fry till golden brown
  • Add the ground onion mix to the pan
  • Cook them in medium flame until the mix is solidified
  • Serve with dosa, idly or curd rice

Notes

Note
  • Store in a air tight dry container
  • Store in a cool dry place
  • Never use damp spoon or spatula
