Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm Plantain Tree Stem / வாழைத்தண்டு - peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
  • ½ cup Moong Dhal / பயத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 2 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - slit
  • 2 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - optional
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 1 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
  • 1 tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
  • 1 tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in pan
  • Add mustard and allow it to splutter
  • Add urad dhal, chana dhal and fry until golden brown
  • Add green chili, red chili, curry leaves asafoetida and fry well
  • Add plantain tree stem, moong dhal
  • Add water, mix well and close cook until tender
  • Add coconut, salt and mix well
  • Serve hot
