Gooseberry Rice

Ingredients
- 2 cup Basmati Rice / பாசுமதி அரிசி - cooked
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
- 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி - chopped
- 2 tsp Salt / உப்பு
for Grinding
- 8 nos Gooseberry / நெல்லிக் காய் - de-seeded and chopped
- 5 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய் - adjust to your spice level
- 1 inch Ginger / இஞ்சி
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
for Tempering
- 2 tbsp Sesame Oil / நல்லெண்ணெய்
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- 1 tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- ½ cup Peanut / வேர்க் கடலை
- 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
Instructions
- Grind gooseberry, green chili, ginger, asafetida into fine paste
- Heat oil in a pan
- Add mustard and allow it to splutter
- Add chana dhal, peanuts and fry well
- Add turmeric powder, curry leaves and fry a little
- Add ground paste and sauté well
- Add cooked rice, salt and mix thoroughly
- Garnish with coriander leaves
- Serve with any moor kootu
