Ingredients
  

  • 1 nos Onion / வெங்காயம் - long sliced
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் தூள்
  • 1 tsp Red Chili powder / மிளகாய்த் தூள் - adjust to your spice level
  • 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust to your taste
  • 50 ml Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 25 ml Tamarind extract / புளிக் கரைசல்

to Grind

  • 50 gm Peanut / வேர்க் கடலை
  • 50 gm Sesame seed, White / எள்ளு, வெள்ளை
  • 50 gm Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
  • 1 cup Onion / வெங்காயம் - chopped

Instructions
 

  • Heat pan, dry roast peanuts until it's peel peels off naturally
  • Add white sesame seeds and roast until sesame pops
  • Add grated coconut and roast well
  • Add onion and sauté until translucent
  • Allow it to cool
  • Grind into fine a paste
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onions and sauté until the raw smell goes off and keep aside
  • Heat oil, add mustard allow it to crackle, add cumin and fry a little
  • Add the ground paste and cook for a while
  • Add a little water, turmeric powder, red chili powder and mix well
  • Add some more water to make it thin
  • Add salt and mix well
  • Add tamarind extract
  • Bring to a boil
  • Add sautéd onion and finally give it a mix

Notes

Serve hot with biriyani
