Ingredients
  

  • 200 gm Pirandai / பிரண்டை - (Devil's back bone)
  • 1 tbsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
  • 1 tbsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
  • 1 bunch Curry leaves, Fresh / கருவேப்பிலை
  • 6 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய் - adjust according to your spice level
  • 2 tbsp Tamarind extract / புளிக் கரைசல்
  • 2 tbsp Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
  • 1 tbsp Oil / எண்ணெய்
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
  • ½ tsp Salt / உப்பு - adjust according to your taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Add pirandai and fry until soft, keep aside
  • Add channa dhal, urad dhal, dry red chili, curry leaves, asafoetida fry them well until fragrant
  • Lastly, add coconut, mix well, switch off the flame, allow it to cool
  • Grind all above into coarse paste
  • Add salt, mix well

Notes

Serve with curd rice
