Chayote Squash Thuvaiyal
Ingredients
- 2 cup Chayote Squash Peel
- ½ tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- 2 tbsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
- 3~5 nos Red Chili, Dry / வற மிளகாய்
- 1 cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - grated
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil / நல்லெண்ணெய்
- ½ inch ball Tamarind / புளி
- 1 pinch Asafoetida / பெருங்காயம்
- 1 tsp Salt / உப்பு
Instructions
- Heat ½tsp sesame oil in a pan
- Add channa dhal, urad dhal and fry until golden brown
- Add dry red chili and fry until fragrant - keep aside
- Add ½tsp sesame oil in the same pan
- Add chayote squash peel and fry until it wilts
- Add tamarind and fry well
- Add asafoetida and mix well
- Allow it cool
- Grind above in a mixer into a fine paste
- Transfer into a bowl
- Add salt and mix well
Notes
Serve along with Rotis and/or rice
