Thengai Maangai Pattani Sundal
Ingredients
- 1 cup Peas, Dry - soak for about 8~10hrs
- ½ cup Onion / வெங்காயம் - chopped
- ½ cup Mango / மாம்பழம் - chhopped
- ¼ cup Coconut, Fresh / தேங்காய் - chopped
- ¼ cup Carrot / காரெட் - thinly sliced
for Crushing
- ½ inch piece Ginger / இஞ்சி
- 1 tsp Fennel seed / சோம்பு
- 2 nos Cloves / லவங்கம்
- 2 nos Green Chili, Fresh / பச்சை மிளகாய்
for Tempering
- 1 tsp Mustard seed / கடுகு
- ½ tsp Chana Dhal / கடலைப் பருப்பு
- ½ tsp Urad Dhal / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil / நல்லெண்ணெய்
- 1 bunch Coriander leaves, Fresh / கொத்தமல்லி - chopped
Instructions
- Pressure cook soaked peas for 2~3 whistles
- Crush ginger, green chili, fennel seeds, clove into coarse paste
- Heat sesame oil, temper mustard, channa dhal , urad dhal and fry well
- Add curry leaves and fry a little
- Add crushed masala and fry well
- Add chopped onion and fry until translucent
- Add asafoetida, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder and mix well
- Add thinly chopped carrot, chopped coconut and mix well
- Add chopped mango and mix well
- Add cooked peas, mix and cook for about 2min
- Garnish with coriander
